EcoSeed

This project develops an AI-assisted drone system that analyzes satellite imagery to automatically identify optimal seed-dispersal locations based on vegetation cover, terrain, and environmental characteristics. Rather than relying on manually selected planting sites, the AI generates GPS coordinates that guide a lightweight drone carrying biodegradable seed capsules. The proof-of-concept focuses on approximately one acre, demonstrating end-to-end functionality from satellite-image analysis to autonomous waypoint navigation and precision seed deployment. The system combines computer vision (OpenCV/YOLO), geospatial analysis, and autonomous drone flight while remaining within a sub-2 kg drone platform capable of carrying a ~200 g payload. The project aims to demonstrate how AI can improve the efficiency, scalability, and accuracy of ecological restoration and afforestation efforts.
