Program at a glance
4 weeks
Weekly build sprint where students turn ideas into real, working creations.
Cohorts
Tight-knit cohorts of 5–6 students who collaborate, learn, and build side by side.
Project-Based
Every student develops a hands-on project grounded in making, experimenting, and creating online
Enclave Topics

Emotion Detection via Keystroke Dynamics
Teach computers to feel.
8 sessions • Psychology × AI
Detect emotions from typing patterns—speed, rhythm, pauses. Train a model to turn keystrokes into emotional signals.

Mind Music
Play music via your thoughts.
8 sessions • Neuroscience × Code
Turn your brain into an instrument. Build a brain-computer interface that reads EEG signals and turns thoughts into music—training a model to translate imagination into sound.

Paint a Sensor
Draw circuits. Collect data.
6 sessions • Chemistry × Design × IoT
Build real sensors with conductive inks—no soldering needed. Turn painted lines into live-data circuits where chemistry meets creativity.

Motion Canvas
Turn movement into art.
6 sessions • Sensors × Motion Design
Capture motion with IMU sensors and turn gestures into digital sketches. Transform movement and rhythm into interactive 3D art drawn by your body.

Blink to Click
Design tech that sees everyone.
8 sessions • Accessibility × ML
Create a web browser controlled entirely by eye movement. Use eye-tracking and calibration to build an interface that scrolls and clicks through gaze alone.

FarmSoap
Make science that protects hands.
8 sessions • Biochemistry × Health
Develop hand soaps that remove pesticide residue and soothe skin exposed to sun and chemicals. Create cleansing solutions tailored for farm workers facing daily irritation and environmental stress.
Who Are Enclaves For?
Enclaves are designed for students who want to start building in bold new domains but aren’t ready for a full research commitment yet.
They’re perfect if you:
-
Want to learn the core concepts behind fast-moving fields like neurotech, affective computing, or material innovation.
-
Are exploring multiple interests before choosing a research or build path.
-
Prefer a short-term, collaborative format that fits within your schedule.
-
Enjoy turning theory into something tangible — a demo, prototype, or design artifact.
How It Works
Each Enclave runs for 1 month, guided by an expert mentor. Students meet 1 or 2 times a week in small groups of 5, engage in interactive lessons, and create a final deliverable — whether it’s a prototype, a software, or a product. You’ll finish with a strong foundation, a portfolio piece, and the confidence to pursue deeper research or creation.
Frequently Asked Questions
No. Enclaves are beginner-friendly. You’ll learn tools and techniques inside the sessions with full mentor support. Curiosity is the only prerequisite.
Research & Build is longer and geared toward publishing or advanced prototyping. Enclaves are one-month sprints to explore a new domain and ship a working build.
Every Enclave ends with a real, working project—for example, a brain-computer interface, a sensor painted with conductive ink, or a bioplastic prototype—plus documentation you can add to your portfolio.
Maximum 5 students per cohort for focused mentorship and meaningful collaboration.
Enclaves run for 1 month with 8 live mentor-led sessions. Each session blends short concept deep dives, guided building, and discussion. Light between-session tasks help you test or collect data.
Researchers, engineers, and designers from top universities and companies—experts in AI, neuroscience, design, sustainability, and more.
You’ll get a short setup guide. For hands-on projects, kits are provided.
-
Yes. Many students extend Enclave builds through the Research & Build Program or the Passion Project Program (not “Fellowship”) for deeper development, publication, or competitions.
-
Expect about 3 hours per week—2 hours of live class plus short self-paced work between sessions.
All Enclave fees are non-refundable, and missed classes cannot be made up individually. However, session recordings are provided so you can review any material you miss.
