Silica Dust-Absorbing Scaffold Using Hydrogel Panels

This project focuses on developing a silica dust-absorbing scaffolding system to reduce hazardous respirable silica dust at construction sites. The scaffold is fitted with replaceable hydrogel-based panels that capture fine dust particles from the air and bind them into a stable, non-airborne form, preventing re-suspension even after the site dries. Unlike conventional wet-cutting methods that only suppress dust temporarily, this approach provides longer-lasting, passive dust control throughout ongoing work. Overall, the solution is designed to improve worker safety while remaining modular, scalable, and easy to integrate into existing scaffolding setups.
